STAT

As an integral part of the MAELS Students Taking Action Today (STAT) organization, students participate in weekly service-learning sessions in which  teammates investigate a community issue and develop a plan of action and advocacy to address it. Student learn about the issue through a variety of high quality media resources and experiential learning, including the interviewing of experts and field trips. As a culmination of the groups work, in our school and community, the MAELS STAT team will present our plan of action and advocacy accomplishments at a virtual culminating event at the end of the. Issues affecting our community that the group can choose to explore include, Animal Welfare, Climate Change, Food Access and Insecurity, and Elder Care.
